The Science and Art of Herbalism is one of the foundational courses in herbal studies written by Rosemary Gladstar and has been used in training home herbalists for decades. In her words:
“The Science & Art of Herbalism is not a clinical level program, nor is the focus only on medical herbalism. Rather, the course builds a firm foundation upon which to continue to build one’s herbal education. It guides the student into the many areas and aspects of herbs providing pathways to deepen one’s awareness. The students complete the course with a well-rounded and grounded herbal education. This is a largely self-guided course. This asks that the student delve into each unit and its topic through the month, while I will act as a guide on this jounrey. In class we will review essential topics and preparations. Students will need to provide supplies for building their mateira medica and for the class projects.
